Content Production & Curation, Digital Diary.

Assessment Two: A digital Diary.
Curation is action of selection, organisation and presentation of online content, merchandise, information, ect presented professionally to either an individual or an audience.

The importance of curating is to make professional purposeful choices in the way in which you organise and present your 'content'. Throughout this digital diary i'll not only be learning how to create a professional portfolio but i'll also be learning to use professional software programs such as Adobe illustrator, Indesign and Behance as a way of presenting this diary.

The first piece of literature I studied for this portfolio was "Keynote Empowering Learners With Digital Media Literacy" by Renee Hobbs. The writing piece puts forwards a provocation which challenges us to reflect and understand our own digital footprints and what kinds of impacts they can create in ours and other lives both online and physically.
Getting to know my client was an extremely important part of this task. Curating a box suited to another persons interests and personal aesthetics was definitely a challenging process however I was lucky enough for my client to share common interests and hobbies which made understanding her passions a lot more easier and relatable.

My client and I engaged in a professional relationship and communicated with one another through Facebook messenger as it was the easiest and most accessible way to get quick responses, share both motivational and progressional photos and also have a safe place for the information to be stored, making it easy to look back on notes and guides given by the client.

My client provided me with lots of photos that inspired her, as well as having in depth conversations about her goals and passions, getting to know my client made creating box she'd love a lot more of an easier process.

When it came to creating the mood boards I found it to be an extremely helpful part of the design process, it allowed me to gather all the inspiration and put it in one organised space, it allowed me to experiment with different colour pallets and mix and match different ideas I had for the box design. The mood boards help me organise my ideas in one place, i personally considered this an important part of the task.
Once completing the Client briefing sheet shown above, I began creating a series of mood boards that would be relevant to my clients aesthetic. I created mood boards experimenting with colour swatches, fonts and inspirational photos used to create ideas for the imagery used on the box.
This mood board was the first one created, I sent this to my client to get feedback if i was on the track whilst researching and planning the box design.
This board helped me layout her colour pallet allowing me to see which colours would compliment others. From creating this board i got an understanding on which type of texture I was wanting to create as a base layer.
For planning which type of text I wanted to use for the written visuals on my box I used a website called DatFont.com for inspiration on decorative fonts that would be appropriate.

To create the box I used two main software programs which were Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. I used illustrator to create all of the drawings that were on the box by using the pen tool. My client specifically requested her box not to be overcrowded by pictures and writing. I chose to create a simple one lined drawing of a plant growing on one side of the box and the plant grown on the other side.

These are a close up off of the final fonts used on the box. I used the Photograph Signature Font by Typeline Studios downloaded from DatFont.com.
